Matt works on his back yard constantly to add a variety of native plants that attract wildlife, especially hummingbirds. Although he hosted the WildOnes St. Charles last year, he has made significant additions to his garden and is happy to tell us all that he has learned in his efforts to attract wildlife. Garden Gathering at Aina and Brian's House
Garden Gathering at Aina & Brian’s House
Aina and Brian are new to the area and to their home in St. Charles. They are committed to using natives in their landscape and have already made lots of changes in the 18 months since they have been in St. Charles. Aina and Brian form the basis of the Native Explorer, an organization that promotes planting natives. You can find them on Facebook. Please note that the meeting tonight is on a Tuesday and not our usual Thursday meeting time. That’s because we want to celebrate Missouri’s Bi-Centennial on the exact day of it’s 200 year entry into the United States. Garden Gatherings are open to members and to those who are subscribed to our monthly newsletter and to approved guests. Call 314-550-0931 for more information.

Garden Gathering at Leslie’s House
Leslie has been enjoying native plants for quite a while now. She is a St. Charles County Master Gardener and a Master Naturalist as well, which means she has been doing a lot of volunteer work over the years. She and a New Melle resident has recently started the New Melle Farmer’s Market. Rumor has it that she knows a lot about the secret lives of hummingbirds and entertains many at her house in St. Peters, MO. Garden Gathering at Mary's House
Garden Gathering at Mary’s House
Mary’s front yard is very much the same as it was seven years ago when she moved from the woods to “town”—but wait until you see the back yard. Fountains and bird baths are numerous and positioned so you can see all the bird activity from the back windows. Mary seems to have brought the woods to town and her yard gets crammed full of natives more each year. Like most of us, Mary likes to see some color all year long in the garden, but by October you may be seeing a lot of seed pods. Highlighted at this time will be the 94 plant “woodland garden” that was installed this spring. Garden Gatherings are open to members and to those who are subscribed to our monthly newsletter and to approved guests. Call 314-550-0931 for more information.
Note: Because of the rain, this event was re-scheduled for Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Another session will be held for members on Thursday, October 21, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Call 314-550-0931 for more information.

Winter Speaker's Series
Public Welcome Chapter Meeting Group Tour Free Public Parking
The Winter Speaker Series begins in November and continues through March. We are hoping for “in-person” presentations this year with an additional "virtual "option as well, instead of the zoom presentations that were needed during winter 2020-2021. Topics and location of the meetings will soon be determined and posted.
Our first event will be held on November 6 when we will visit the Native Gardens at the University of Missouri Extension Office on Brown Road in St. Peters, MO.
